As company grows, so does my team. For the first time ever in my life, I had a surprised birthday celebration not at home, but at the office. Not just me, but together with another 3 staffs are January’s babies of company AZ Mega Plus Group. The celebration went so well just like they’ve planned it for a long time but I found out that it is only took about two days to execute the plan.
The most surprising and exciting is my staffs planned it together with my wife who is also a co-founder of this company. My day started off with the same routine which I need to be at the office at the same time as my staff. I had an executive coaching class with departmental leader up until lunch hour.
All I know that on that day, 27th January of 2022, we were going to have potluck at the office. That’s it. It never came across to me that it is not a typical ‘potluck’ but a birthday celebration too for January’s babies… Yeayyy!
What is potluck? Potluck is an event where there is a team of people bring their own food and share it with other people and eat together. For some potluck, one may decide on one person to bring the main dish while others in attendance could bring dessert, fruits and drinks. For the very first time of having potluck at the office, the apple of my eyes cooked her very own special curry mee which is also one of my favourite.
The curry is well cooked and filled with some chicken and also seafood which made the broth taste so refreshing and delicious… Nyumms!
Apart from that, we also had satay, nasi impit, chicken rendang, traditional kuih-muih, desserts such as bread pudding and also fruit cocktail. The celebration started with the entrance of a group of my staff brought a birthday cake together with 4 balloons and bouquet of chocolates to be given to the birthday girl and boy.
As usual, after that there was an appreciation speech from four of us as a gratitude for the celebration. One of my staffs said that there was no birthday celebration at her previous workplace and this is the first one. Actually, this kind of event also is the first time for this company.
As time goes by and my team grows bigger, I felt and thought that apart from focusing on our work, we also need to create a good communication and great bonds to each other. This is to ensure they communicate effectively and build a better cooperation within the organization. An organized organization comes with an efficient communication.
And this year, I grow a year older but still young in my heart. My wish and doa for this year May ALLAH grant me a prosperous life with my beloved family and given with a good health condition, In Shaa Allah.
